Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Muhsin Al-Mandalawi, affirmed the parliament’s keenness to pass laws and follow up on the progress of the agreements concluded with Saudi Arabia.
Al-Mandalawi received in his office the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Iraq, Abdul Aziz bin Khalid Al-Shimmari, to discuss a number of mutual interest files to discuss the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasizing facilitating procedures for Saudi companies to enter Iraq, and avoiding routine procedures in the investment file, according to statement of the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The Deputy Speaker stressed "The Parliament supported efforts to strengthen ties and prospects for cooperation in all fields, in addition to approving laws and following up the progress of agreements concluded between the two neighboring countries, especially the legislation of the law ratifying the agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments between the governments of Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the next few years.”
In turn, the ambassador expressed his country's keenness to revitalize relations between the two countries, and "the desire of Saudi companies to contribute to investment inside Iraq to support the private sector and create job opportunities for youth. In addition to that, it includes working hard towards closer cooperation between the Iraqi Parliament and the Saudi Shura Council to exchange experiences and visits to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries".
