Baghdad Governor Abdulmutalib Al-Alawi, the head of the Higher Committee for the Census, led a key meeting today, Saturday to assess ongoing preparations for the upcoming national census.
The Governmental Media and Communication Department, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), reported that Governor Al-Alawi chaired the session to review the organizational groundwork underway for the national census.
The meeting brought together senior officials, including directors of Baghdad’s Education Departments, the technical general director, and the head of the technical and field divisions from the Geographic Information Statistics Bureau, Qusay Abdul-Fattah Raouf, along with Baghdad Statistics Director Khaled Walid, who serves as a committee member and rapporteur for the Higher Committee.
The discussion focused on the progress of enumeration and numbering efforts within Baghdad Province, along with strategic planning for the next phase of the census. The national census is scheduled for the 20th and 21st of this month, with preparatory counting operations set to take place from the 16th through the 19th.
Governor Al-Alawi commended the diligent efforts of all teams involved, including committee members, support personnel, and administrative unit leaders, as well as the Education Department’s role in encouraging participation. He emphasized the importance of this census as a national endeavor, urging all involved to intensify their efforts to ensure its successful completion.
