Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed on Thursday, that there is continuous cooperation in the security field and drug control with Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan referred to Iraq's important role in the region.
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said, in a joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, which was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The visit of the Saudi foreign minister is important, and it comes at a time characterized by many challenges," stressing, " The importance of conducting dialogues and discussions about challenges that concern the region in general."
He added, "Dialogues and discussions are continuing with representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, about the bilateral relations between the two countries that have developed in various fields," noting that "there is coordination with the concerned authorities and officials in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on oil policy and coordination within the framework of OPEC and OPEC Plus," In addition to the existence of intensive cooperation on trade and investment exchange, and we look forward to supplying Iraq with electricity, whether from the Saudi or Gulf network."
He pointed out, "There is continuous cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the security field and the fight against drug gangs, and we are working to reduce the state of tension in the region," noting that "Saudi Arabia plays an important role in this field."
Hussein stated, "We touched on holding the fourth meeting of the Political and Security Committee between the two parties under my chairmanship and that of the Saudi Foreign Minister, and we also touched on holding the Iraqi-Saudi Joint Coordinating Council, in addition to discussing investments," noting that "the Saudi side confirmed the willingness of Saudi companies to invest to support the Iraqi economy."
Hussein thanked "Saudi Arabia for supporting hosting the 25th Gulf Championship in Iraq."
For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Min Farhan stressed, during the conference, "the depth of the relationship between Iraq and Saudi Arabia."
He expressed his support for Iraq's efforts to promote prosperity and stability, stressing the activation of the Joint Coordination Council, which works to promote many projects.
He added, "Iraq is witnessing a very positive economic development, and plays a fundamental and important role in the stability of the region," stressing "the need to advance the process of stability in the region."
Bin Farhan congratulated "Iraq for hosting the Gulf Cup 25 and the great success it achieved, in addition to its victory in the championship."
the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced Earlier on Thursday, the arrival of the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to Baghdad on an official visit.
Al-Sahhaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, arrived in Baghdad on an official visit."
Al-Sahhaf added, "During the visit, the Saudi foreign minister will meet with President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein."
