Smuggler arrested for trying to bring more than 100,000 narcotic pills from Syria into Iraq

    A military intelligence force arrested the smuggler, who tried to enter 108,000 narcotic pills after fleeing to Syria.

    "With accurate intelligence information from the Intelligence of the 15th Division, of the Military Intelligence Directorate in the Ministry of Defense, which confirmed the return of the smuggler to make a second attempt to cross our common border with Syria and after the use of thermal cameras, the movements of the smuggler inside Syrian territory were monitored towards our territory through the village of Shaalan, which belongs to Rabia district west of Nineveh," the security media cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Monday.
     
     "As a result, he was ambushed by the intelligence detachments of the 15th And Ground Brigade of the 2nd Regiment, the 71st Infantry Brigade, to arrest him as soon as he crossed the border, which he did, and during the investigation he admitted responsibility for entering the amount of drugs mentioned above," the cell said in a statement.
