Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Muhammed al-Halboosi met the US Treasury Secretary Assistant of Funding Terrorism Affairs Marshall Billingslea where the US ambassador to Iraq Mathew Tueller attended the meeting as well.
During the meeting, al-Halboosi discussed political, economic and security developments in Iraq, stressing the role of the Parliament in approving legislation guaranteeing the development and stability in the country.
He affirmed the need for US and the international community to exert more efforts to combat terrorism and to dry up its sources and financing, pointing to the need to reduce the escalation in the region and the encirclement of crises and call for dialogue and peace, and called for encouraging US companies to invest more in Iraq in all industrial and commercial fields.
For his part, US Assistant Treasury Secretary for Terrorist Financing expressed his country's keenness on Iraq's security and sovereignty and the protection of democracy in it and the victories achieved after the war on terrorism.
He also pointed out Washington's readiness to provide assistance to build an advanced banking system in Iraq and contribute with expertise to fight corruption.
