The head of the Publishers Union and the Supreme Preparatory Committee for the Book Fair, Abdul Wahab Al-Radhi, announced on Wednesday, the opening of the 25th session of the Baghdad Book Fair, while confirming the participation of 600 Iraqi, Arab and foreign publishing houses from 21 countries, with the attendance of Iraqi, Arab and foreign writers and thinkers.
Abdul Wahab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the twenty-fifth session of the Baghdad International Book Fair will be opened tomorrow," noting that "the exhibition will continue until Sunday, September 22, on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair, under the slogan "Iraq Reads" from ten in the morning until ten in the evening."
He added, "Money is not more important than culture, as there are field plans that make the 25th session an icon of Baghdad's history," stressing that "the union holds this phenomenon regularly, as is the custom of global cultural traditions in advanced countries, preceded by Iraq since 24 sessions were held, the first of which was in 1978 and continues despite the events that the country has witnessed from detention centers, wars, international sanctions, siege, terrorism and difficult crises, but they did not deter the will of the Iraqi intellectual because he is stronger than the danger threatening him."
Abdul Wahab explained that “The exhibition sends a message to the world, revealing a homeland that cares for its people, with internal."
