Defense Minister discusses with his Italian counterpart developing cooperation

Minister of Defense Thabet Mohammed Al-Abbasi received his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, today, Saturday, and discussed developing joint cooperation.

The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Defense Minister Thabet Mohammed Al-Abbasi received at the ministry's headquarters in Baghdad, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, Italian Ambassador to Iraq Nicolo Fontana, and their accompanying delegation.".

It added, "An official reception ceremony was held for the guest, during which the national anthems of the Republics of Iraq and Italy were played. At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed his Italian counterpart, appreciating Italy's efforts and its great role through the Italian experts and trainers present within the NATO mission and their support for Iraq through the training and development courses held for the cadres of the Ministry of Defense inside and outside Iraq.".

It continued, "The two parties discussed, during an expanded meeting attended by a number of senior leaders and officers in the ministry, ways to develop future relations between Iraq and the Republic of Italy, as well as the two countries' efforts to enhance joint cooperation in the future."
