Prime Minister Mohammad Shiaa Al-Sudani on Saturday directed The General Directorate of Traffic and all relevant authorities to implement measures aimed at curbing speeding and reducing the number of accidents.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the media office of the Prime Minister reported that “Prime Minister Mohammad Shiaa Al-Sudani conducted a field visit to the Baghdad-Mosul entrance project to follow up on its progress.”

During his visit, the Prime Minister emphasized the project’s significance for the Baghdad Governorate and its connectivity to neighboring provinces, noting, “The citizens have endured much hardship, showing patience over the past months and years, and the project is now nearing completion, ready to serve the movement of citizens.”

Al-Sudani stressed the importance of completing the entrance in two sections: the first under the responsibility of the Baghdad Municipality and the second under the Baghdad Governorate. He directed that all obstacles hindering the project’s completion be removed within 100 days.

He added, “The project must be sustainable, ensuring smooth movement for citizens, while taking into account the need for an entrance that befits the capital, Baghdad, and connects it to other provinces.” He noted that “previous administrations opted for a standard approach, but we have devised a plan that provides strategic solutions to operate this vital entrance for both Baghdad and the capital.”

The Prime Minister pointed out that the project will include bridges for vehicles in both directions, pedestrian bridges, and all modern road requirements, such as lighting and signposts. He directed the Traffic Directorate and all relevant authorities to put in place measures to curb speeding, reduce accidents, and ensure maximum traffic safety.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of completing the work according to specifications to ensure the sustainability of the service and the longevity of the infrastructure and roads.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed that supplementary work schedules be provided and the resolution of conflicts be expedited, while urging ministries to collaborate swiftly to resolve all conflicts.
