Iraq and Italy discuss developing relations in military, security fields

    Deputy Commander of Joint Ops, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi, discussed with the Italian Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Francesco Figliuolo, ways to develop bilateral relations in the military and security fields.


    Al-Muhammadawi received Figliuolo and the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Greganti, and his accompanying delegation. In the presence of several directors of the leadership staff, according to a statement by the Security Media Cell - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

     

    The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways of development, especially in the military and security fields, as well as cooperation in training security forces, in addition to conducting special exercises between the Iraqi and Italian air forces, and between the two types of special forces of both countries' capacity building and training curriculum development.


    They discussed the Iraqi security achievements that resulted in tightening the noose on the remaining terrorist elements whose end is very close. 


    The attendees stressed the importance of building bilateral security relations by memorandums of understanding within the constitutional and legal framework and in a way that preserves the sovereignty, independence and security of Iraq.


    The Italian Commander of Joint Operations praised the Iraqi security forces and their achievements in security work, stressing his country's keenness to continue developing relations between Iraq and Italy in a way that serves common interests.
