PM Receives the Italian Minister of Defense

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani received this morning the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Guido Crosetto, and his accompanying delegation. The media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    The Iraqi Minister of Defense, Mr. Thabet Mohammed Al-Abbasi, and several military leaders were also present. The meeting focused on enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries and strengthening joint cooperation in security fields at various levels.
     
    The Prime Minister commended Italy's efforts in combating terrorism and eliminating ISIS gangs through the Global Coalition against Daesh and its contribution to training the Iraqi security forces within the NATO mission. He highlighted the distinguished relationship between Iraq and Italy and expressed Iraq's commitment to working together towards regional and global security goals.
     
    The Prime Minister noted that Iraq and Italy have significant potential for cooperation in several areas, such as health, education, industry, and water resource management, and highlighted the prospect of entering into industrial and economic partnerships. He confirmed that a high-level Iraqi delegation will soon visit Italy to discuss cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.
     
    The Italian Minister of Defense conveyed the greetings of the Italian Prime Minister and expressed Italy's desire for more mutual cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming visit of the Iraqi delegation, which would contribute to the development of relations between the two countries, especially given Italy's interest in Iraq and its critical role in managing peace in the region and globally. The Italian Minister of Defense also affirmed Italy's commitment to continue its security cooperation with Iraq, particularly in training Iraqi security forces.
