The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, inaugurated the unified emergency number project (911) in the Central Response and Control Directorate of the Ministry of Interior."
The Prime Minister issued a call to all formations, during which he stressed the importance of this project, which represents one of the objectives of the government's vision in developing the security and service infrastructure, enhancing the ability to respond quickly to emergencies, and achieving effective communication with citizens 24 hours a day, in reporting emergency and suspicious cases.
He explained that "the number (911) is not just a hotline, but rather the backbone of the emergency response system, and was adopted to be a unified reference in order to unify the efforts of all joints and formations of the Ministry of Interior, and the rest of the service and security ministries, in a way that ensures improving performance, increasing safety and consolidating citizens' confidence in security institutions."
He added, "This project, which is the first of its kind in Iraq, represents a qualitative leap in digital transformation, modern communications, imposing security and providing police and humanitarian services."
He pointed out that "the Directorate of (Rapid Response and Central Control / 911) was established in the Ministry of Interior, by National Security Council Resolution No. (1) of 2024, with the aim of unifying all 26 emergency numbers, with one number 911, with the aim of ensuring a rapid response to accidents and emergency situations, such as traffic accidents, fires and crimes, in addition to receiving security information, complaints and inquiries and referring them to the competent authorities, and establishing (51) sub-response stations throughout Iraq, with specialized cadres fluent in several languages used in Iraq."
