Three unauthorized tour and travel companies in the capital have been closed, according to a Monday announcement from the Baghdad Operations Command.
"In conjunction with the security plans set and the search and local inspection operations, the security units, in conjunction with detachments from (security/tourism), continue to inspect the offices and travel and tourism companies and close the unlicensed in the Amiriya area in Baghdad," the command stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Three travel companies were shut down and their proprietors were taken into custody for going against the regulations set forth by the Tourism Authority," the statement continued, adding that "they were turned over to the General Directorate of Tourism Security."
