A security operation was launched southwest of Nineveh

The Popular Mobilization Forces announced today, Saturday, the implementation of a security operation southwest of Nineveh.

The authority stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "a joint force from the Nineveh Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces and the army carried out a wide security operation to secure and search the Hatra desert southwest of Nineveh."

The statement added, "The operation involved the Operations and Intelligence Department of the Command, the 44th Brigade within the Nineveh Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Intelligence and Information Assistant, Explosives Engineering, Medicine, and units of the 43rd Brigade, 20th Division of the Iraqi Army."

The statement continued, "The operation aims to track down terrorist cells in the Hatra desert and prevent terrorist cells from having any opportunity to find a foothold."
