Nine kilograms of drugs were found in western Anbar, according to the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs.
"9 kilograms of heroin were seized in Al-Rutba district, west of Anbar, based on intelligence information," the director general of the directorate, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Zarkani, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs had earlier declared the seizure of over 21 kg of drugs in Wasit and Maysan.
As per the official statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the directorate discovered "a kilo and a half of crystal meth in Maysan, as well as 21.5 kg of drugs, including 20 kg of opium in Wasit."
"Several accused, including a foreigner, have been arrested," the statement proceeded.
