The Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) declared on Friday that it had taken down a global drug trafficking organization that had over two million prescription drugs.

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained a statement from the Security Media Cell stating that "detachments of INIS were able to arrest a number of senior drug traffickers linked to an international network based on accurate information and intensive intelligence pursuit outside and inside Iraq."

The statement noted, "After raiding their hideouts in the capital, Baghdad, more than two million narcotic pills were seized, which they were planning to distribute in a number of Iraqi provinces."

It went on to say: "The arrestees and seized drugs were referred to the competent authorities."
