INIS announces arresting a dangerous terrorist network in Baghdad

    The Iraqi National Intelligence Service INIS announced on Sunday, the arrest of a dangerous terrorist network in the capital, Baghdad.

     

    INIS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA that “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, INIS has achieved a new victory added to the record of Iraqi victories over the forces of terrorism and Daesh gangs, the heroes of INIS carried out one of the most successful qualitative intelligence operations that resulted in the arrest of a dangerous terrorist network in Baghdad.”

     

    It added that "This operation is linked to a previous operation carried out by the INIS in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism Service ICTS on February 26, 2023, which contributed in killing 22 terrorists in Al- Anbar desert, west of the country, and led to identify new targets and revealed this network, which was planning to carry out suicide operations in an attempt to target Hosseini processions, police stations, checkpoints and public markets in a number of popular neighborhoods in Baghdad, and after careful field monitoring of its movements, all its members were arrested .

     

    It also said that "the defendants confessed belonging to terrorist gangs and receiving intensive training in the manufacture of explosive devices, explosive belts and explosive materials in preparation for carrying out their suicide operations, but the heroes of the INIS were closer arrested 

    them in a qualitative pre-emptive operation".


    The statement also said that “While this operation reveals the capability of the Iraqi intelligence effort and its penetration into the ranks of these terrorist gangs, the INIS confirms the continuation of its efforts to pursue their remnants until their elimination.”
