The spokesman for the Iraqi government, Bassem Al-Awadi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the visit of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to Britain will restore relations between the two countries to what they were, noting that Iraq is working to make the United Kingdom a strategic ally supporting them.
Al-Awadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The visit of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to Britain is historic; for the value of what resulted from it," indicating that "the visit will restore Iraqi-British relations to what they were."
He added that "the visit included a full basket of agreements with the United Kingdom," noting that "the government is working to make the United Kingdom a strategic ally supporting Iraq."
He stated that "the visit includes approximately 13 economic meetings, 8 political meetings, and 5 media meetings with the BBC, the Financial Times, and other media outlets," noting that "the economic file will be at the heart of the visit."
The media office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced today, Tuesday, that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and his British counterpart, Key Starmer, signed a historic partnership and cooperation agreement that included an agreement on a trade package worth (12.3) billion pounds sterling, as well as agreements in the fields of trade, economy, investment, defense, security, immigration, organized migration crimes, culture, education, women, peace, climate, environment, sports cooperation, and projects to secure borders, fight fires, electricity, sanitation, water, and many other files.
