The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, directed today, Friday, the opening of an investigation into the targeting of a gas field in Sulaymaniyah.
The Security Media Cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “At a time when the Iraqi government seeks to develop the country’s infrastructure, provide a decent living for citizens, and preserve the national economy, sabotage elements targeted the Kormor gas field, south of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, in Kurdistan region of Iraq, by bombing.” “With a drone, one of the liquid (gas) storage tanks within this company’s facilities was hit on Thursday evening, without any human casualties, which led to a temporary halt to production operations to control the fire, which was later completely extinguished.”
"As a result of this brutal attack, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed that an investigation be conducted to determine the circumstances of this incident, to be completed within 48 hours. "according to the statement.
Al-Sudani stressed, “taking deterrent legal measures against the party that committed this criminal act that threatens energy projects in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and other provinces.”
