Defense Industries Commission DIC announced on Wednesday, embarking on the experimental test of the Iraqi-made 122mm cannon.
The Commission said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, that "in order to revive national manufacturing and under the guidance and follow-up of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, the head DIC, Mustafa Ati Hassan, announced embarking on manufacturing and developing military products."
"The experimental test of the Iraqi-made 122mm cannon was conducted in the presence of Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, who carried out the firing with live ammunition by the Anbar Operations Division's Artillery Directorate, accompanied by the army's assistant chief of staff for operations, the commander of the ground force and a number of responsible commanders," DIC said.
Yarallah affirmed in the statement that "this type of test is considered the most important part in the development of military industries and that it is an important step to cover part of the needs of the Iraqi armed forces and to support the capabilities of the Iraqi army in defending the land and people of Iraq."
"The attendance of the army chief of staff and heroic military commanders resembles a proof of the keenness of these commanders to develop the capabilities of the armed forces by supporting and developing Iraqi military industries and in compliance with the directive of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces," said Mustafa Ati, head of the Commission.
