Minister of Migration and Displaced Ivan Faiq Jabro announced on Wednesday the launch of the national campaign to reduce the risks of illegal immigration, noting that this came after obtaining the approval of the Cabinet.

Jabro said in a speech during the first international forum for displacement and international migration received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "it was decided to launch the national campaign to reduce the risks of illegal immigration, after obtaining the approval of the Cabinet to do so," renewing "its support for voluntary return and its rejection of the forced return of Iraqis living abroad."

She stressed "the need to inform people about the disadvantages of illegal immigration and its negative repercussions on society in all aspects of life," adding that "we have worked to convince officials abroad to deal with Iraqis in a humane manner that applies to international conventions and human rights principles."

"The ministry continues to communicate with care groups abroad and listen to their problems and try to solve them, whether with regard to issuing identification documents or completing the necessary transactions," she said.

She pointed out that "Iraq today needs the expertise and competencies of its people to participate in building and advancing the country in all sectors," stressing that "we fear for our young people from falling into the hands of human trafficking gangs or traffickers in human organs."
