Ministry of Health announced Wednesday recording 39 new cases of cholera, while the total number of cases exceeded 200.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the ministry recorded during the last 24 hours 39 new cases of cholera," noting that "the total number reached 208 injuries and two deaths due to cholera."
Al-Badr added, "The cases of the disease were distributed as follows: (Kirkuk 106 injuries, Baghdad / Rusafa 50 injuries, Dhi Qar 19 cases, Diyala 11 cases, Sulaymaniyah 10 cases, Muthanna 3 cases, and two cases in Babylon, and one case in Karkh, Wasit and Holy Karbala, in Najaf.
He continued, "As for the deaths, they were distributed by one case in Kirkuk and the second in Baghdad, Al-Rusafa."
He stressed "commitment to the preventive measures represented in paying attention to personal hygiene and washing hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after eating," stressing "the role of the responsible authorities concerned with the safety of drinking water, food, and sewage networks."
