Barcelona star Lamine Yamal confirmed that he plans to stay with Barca for a long time.
"I don't know when the new contract will be signed, but it will be soon. Barcelona is the club of my life, and I hope to renew my contract and stay as long as possible. I want to play in La Liga and with Barca. Yes, I will renew my current contract, which expires in the summer of 2026," Yamal said in statements highlighted by the Spanish newspaper "Sport".
He added, "It is true that Flick is a different coach and has a distinctive style of play. We have tried to adapt to what he has asked of us and I think we are doing a good job. In 2025 we will do our best to win titles and we want to start that with the Super Cup. We will do everything to make this year the best year of our lives."
He continued, "In the end, we will win the league by beating the teams we have lost to before. I think it is about focus. We have proven in the important moments that we are the best and we will continue to do so. I do not doubt that we will win La Liga."
"I was five when I saw Neymar at Santos, and when I was seven I saw him in person at the Camp Nou. It was amazing to see him. Yes, indeed, Messi was there and he was great, but Neymar is something else. He has always been my idol, he is a star and a legend in football,"
he said. "It's not easy to study and compete, but the teachers understand the situation. If they see that we are in the quarter-finals or the last 16 of tournaments, they don't give me many tasks."
Lamine concluded: "On my days off when they know I'm not doing anything, they ask me to do more work. Winning the European Cup and passing high school was a great achievement, and now I'm relaxed. I'm fully focused on football and I'm going to continue like this."
