Al-Sudani confirms to Khamenei: The government is acting based on Iraq's supreme interests

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, today, Wednesday, during his meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, that the government is moving based on Iraq's supreme interests, and in a way that ensures the preservation of Iraq's sovereignty.

    The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, during his official visit to Tehran."

    He added, "The meeting witnessed a review of bilateral relations and ways to continue developing them, in a way that serves to enhance the common interests between the two countries, and stressing the need to increase cooperation and coordinate positions to support security and stability in the region, enhance regional and international dialogue, and contribute to preserving the unity and sovereignty of Syria and standing by its people."

    He added, "It was emphasized to continue supporting the Palestinian people to end their suffering in light of the ongoing Zionist aggression, and to work to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and to support stability in southern Lebanon."

    He continued, "The pivotal role that Iraq enjoys today in the region was also addressed, as al-Sudani pointed out, during the meeting, to the gains achieved today due to the sacrifices of the Iraqis and their victory over terrorism through the efforts of the security forces of all kinds," stressing that "the government is moving today based on Iraq's supreme interests, and in a way that ensures the preservation of Iraq's sovereignty."
