The White House confirmed on Monday, that the United States will announce today the change of the mission in Iraq from combat to training and advisory.
"The Iraqi leadership asked the United States to transfer the mission of our forces," said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki in a press conference followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"We will not disclose any details about the number of US forces that will remain in Iraq after the end of the year," she added.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden announced that he would host Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, on Monday, while expressing his aspiration to strengthen the partnership between United States and Iraq.
