President Barham Salih, stressed on Monday, the need to provide the appropriate environment for fair elections at all stages.
This came during a meeting between President Salih and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Both emphasized the “need to provide the necessary conditions for holding the upcoming elections, to ensure the integrity and fair in its various stages to give its results credibility and confidence among the Iraqis, as to confirm their free will to elect their representatives away from pressure, fraud and manipulation,”
The statement included that they also asserted the importance of enhancing security stability as an integral part of electoral security requirements.
