The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, confirmed today, Monday, that the Council of Representatives will provide all support to the Ministry of Culture to recover lost Iraqi antiquities.
The office of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, received the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Fadhel Mohammed Al-Badrani."
"The meeting discussed the overall cultural, tourism and archaeological activity in the country, and the prospects for cooperation between the Council of Representatives and the Ministry of Culture, to work to protect the pillars of Iraqi culture and commit to strengthening and upgrading it."
Al-Mashhadani pointed out that "intellectuals, writers, historians, artists, bloggers and elites are given special attention for what they possess of components that contributed to supporting Iraqi culture in all fields."
He stressed "the importance of paying attention to Iraqi antiquities, as they are an honorable part of Iraq's history, and intensifying the search for those that are missing," stressing that "the House of Representatives will provide all support to the ministry in the field of recovering lost Iraqi antiquities that were stolen and smuggled out of Iraq."
