Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail confirmed today, Thursday that the Council of Ministers agreed to renew the contract for the sale of crude oil to Jordan, with a quantity of 10,000 barrels.
The ministry's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Ismail, during his meeting with the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Al-Zawati, confirmed Iraq's keenness to consolidate bilateral relations with the brothers in the Kingdom of Jordan and expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation."
The Minister of Oil added, "The meeting included discussion, recommendations and outcomes of the tripartite summit between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt in the field of cooperation in the energy file, which was held in Baghdad last June, and they also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of oil in a way that serves the interests of the two countries."
He also stressed that "the (Basra - Aqaba) pipeline project to be established between Iraq and Jordan for the export of crude oil is of interest to the ministry and is currently under discussion by the technical and commercial committees," noting that "it aims to achieve economic and commercial feasibility in a way that supports sustainable development plans, and that It adds economic value to both countries."
Regarding the sale of crude oil to Jordan, Ismail referred to "the Cabinet's approval to renew the annual contract with a quantity of (10 thousand barrels)."
