The General Secretariat of the Iraqi cabinet announced on Tuesday, Iraq’s participation in the high-level experts’ meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Cairo.
A statement of the secretariat received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Iraq participated in the meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the expert level, represented by the Director-General of the Department of Empowerment of Iraqi Women at the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, Yusra Karim Mohsen.
The statement continued that the meeting, which starts its work in Cairo today, was preceded by the work of the 8th session of the Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Women, in which the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Adel Al-Rikabi, will participate, at the head of a governmental delegation.
The 8th session of the Ministerial Conference discusses several issues, including maintaining gender equality, and empowering women in light of the Corona pandemic and its aftermath, by focusing on the repercussions of the virus on women and their special needs, and the required response in the short, medium, long and post-pandemic in the countries that are members of the organization.
