The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, affirmed the parliament's keenness to expand the number of beneficiaries from the social welfare network.
The media office of the First Deputy stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Al-Kaabi met the head of the Social Protection Authority, Huda Sajjad to discuss number of issues related to the social welfare network.
During the meeting, Al-Kaabi said that the main goal of legislating of the social protection law, is to address the problem of poverty in our country, and this means that the goal is moral, stressing the need to keep this file away from political interaction and exploitation by some sides.
Al-Kaabi added that despite the Budgetary deficit but the Iraqi parliament was keen to include allocations for the purpose of expanding the number of those who benefit from the care network, and this is evidence that the parliament considers finding a solution to poverty and rehabilitating the poor segments of society, among the priorities.
