Badr Parliamentary Bloc revealed that there was a tendency to choose a candidate to head the new government after Allawi’s apology, away from the political process.
"The political blocs did not hold a meeting on the alternative candidate," head of the bloc, Muhammad al-Ghabban, told Iraqi News Agency INA.
He stressed that the trend is to choose a candidate to head the new government after the apology of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi way from the political class.
"The best option is for the caretaker government to remain until the parliament dissolves itself and hold early elections within 6 months,” he added.
Prime Minister-designate, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, offered his apology to the President of the Republic for forming the government, while the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, announced the start of consultations to select an alternative candidate within a period of 15 days within the scope of the constitutional and national responsibilities.
