The Border Ports commission (BPC) announced today, Friday, the seizure of 3 containers prepared for smuggling and in violation of import controls at the northern Umm Qasr port.
A statement by BPC received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that, "The Directorate of the Northern Port of Umm Qasr was able to seize three containers, with a size of (40) feet, in violation of import controls, outside the customs area at the search and investigation point, containing (motorcycle chassis) prepared for smuggling, hidden behind the materials declared in the completed customs transaction."
The statement indicated that "the seized items were referred to the Northern Umm Qasr Customs Police Station for the purpose of presenting it to the investigating judge.”
