The Border Ports Authority announced on Tuesday, the seizure of 5 containers violating import conditions and controls at the northern port of Umm Qasr.
The authority stated in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “based on the information received from the head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, the Umm Qasr Northern Port Directorate, in cooperation with the Customs Center and the Customs Police, and after obtaining the approval of the investigating judge, was able to (5) 40-foot containers containing (energy drink, diluted carbonated water hidden behind chips, honey and various foodstuffs hidden behind Indomie) were seized."
The statement added, "A committee was formed, a fundamental arrest report was organized, and it was referred to the Umm Qasr Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures."
