Speaker of the Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani stressed on Sunday the need to continue strengthening relations with Turkey and expanding areas of common meeting.
Al-Mashhadani received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is visiting Iraq, and the meeting was attended by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, according to a statement by the media office of the Speaker of the Parliament - received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues on the common level between the two countries, as well as the regional level and “the rapid developments of events in the countries of the region.”
Al-Mashhadani stressed “the continuation to strengthen relations between the two countries and expanding areas of common meeting in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring peoples in accordance with the agreements in force."
They exchanged viewpoints agreed on supporting efforts aimed at “enhancing stability in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, through reconstruction, delivering aid and spreading an atmosphere of societal reconciliation."
In turn, the Turkish Foreign Minister affirmed his country's commitment to "strong relations with the State of Iraq and to working in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two countries."
