The Ministry of Interior-MOI announced on Friday the arrest of a suspect who incited a gathering in front of the Syrian Embassy in Baghdad.
According to a statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “Based on precise intelligence information and with judicial approvals, the intelligence and counterterrorism units of Rusafa, affiliated with the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency at the Ministry of Interior, successfully apprehended a suspect who incited a gathering in front of the Syrian Embassy in the Mansour district of Baghdad, provoking acts of disorder.”
The statement added that “legal procedures have been taken against the suspect to complete the necessary investigative and judicial documents to bring him to justice.”
The Ministry of Interior also issued a warning against “attempts to incite sedition or attack Iraq’s guests, regardless of their nationality,” emphasizing that “specialized security agencies will deal firmly with anyone attempting to undermine security.”
