Iraq-Turkey Trade Hits $20 Billion, Says Turkish Foreign Minister

    Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Sunday that trade between Iraq and Turkey has reached $20 billion.
     
    In a press conference in Baghdad, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA, Fidan shared details of his discussions with Iraqi Foreign Minister, emphasizing the strategic nature of their relationship. He stated, “Whenever Iraq enjoys security and stability, it positively impacts Turkey.”
     
    Fidan also highlighted Turkey’s commitment to contributing to development projects, mentioning plans to support and implement the “Development Road” project.
     
    “The trade volume between Iraq and Turkey has reached $20 billion,” Fidan confirmed.
     
    The Turkish minister stressed the importance of continued cooperation between both countries in matters of security, particularly in combating ISIS and the PKK terrorist organizations. He also mentioned regional disputes but emphasized they should not affect the security of either nation.
     
    Fidan noted the significance of maintaining communication between Iraq and the new Syrian administration, offering condolences for the recent deaths of three Iraqi security personnel at the hands of the PKK.
     
    Regarding the Palestinian issue, Fidan reiterated Turkey’s call for an end to Israeli violations in Palestine.
     
    Fidan arrived in Baghdad on Sunday for an official visit. The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed Fidan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
     
    The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the visit is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen the partnership between Iraq and Turkey in ways that benefit both nations.
