The General Authority of Customs announced on Friday, the thwarting of many gold smuggling operations, while confirming that no fake gold has entered the country.
The Director General of the Authority, Hassan Al-Akeili, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The gold has recently entered Baghdad International Airport directly," explaining that "no fake gold has been discovered so far."
He added that "the Authority has been able to thwart many gold smuggling operations," explaining that "no fake gold has been registered with customs."
The Director of the General Authority of Customs, Ahmed Al-Akidi, announced in a previous statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Authority continues to implement the process of marking and labeling gold jewelry at Baghdad International Airport, based on Cabinet Resolution No. (23/671), and this was done by opening a center for standardization and quality control inside the airport."
He pointed out that "this step contributed greatly to facilitating the entry of gold by providing safe procedures for its transportation and marking," indicating that "no cases of seizing fake or adulterated gold have been recorded since the start of this process."
