The House of Representatives elected, on Thursday evening, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as Speaker of the House after winning the second round of voting.

Al-Mashhadani won 182 votes, compared to 42 votes for his competitor, Salem Al-Issawi, who competed with him for the presidency of the House of Representatives.

39 ballot papers were deemed invalid during the voting process.
