The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced on Wednesday the seizure of more than 177,000 medicine boxes that violate regulations in Baghdad in conjunction with the Ministry of Health.
"As part of its continuous efforts to protect the health and safety of citizens, INSS was able to seize a large quantity of violating medicines in the Yarmouk area of Baghdad," a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said.
The statement added that "the seizure process was based on accurate intelligence, as a force from the Service, in cooperation with the Baghdad Karkh Health Department, carried out a qualitative operation that resulted in the seizure of (177,461) violating medicine boxes in a warehouse, including untested medicines, medicines not registered by the Ministry of Health, expired medicines and others stored in a manner that violates health regulations."
"The seizures have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures in accordance with the law," the statement said.
