Rashid stresses the importance of exchanging study missions between Baghdad and Moscow

    President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, today, Wednesday, the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation and exchanging study missions between Baghdad and Moscow.

    The Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic received at the Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, conveying to him the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his congratulations on the success of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections."

    The Presidency added that "during the meeting, the President conveyed his greetings to Ambassador Kotrashev and his appreciation for his kind feelings," stressing "the depth of the friendly relations and cooperation between Iraq and Russia and the necessity of advancing them in a way that achieves the common interests of the two friendly countries."

    The Presidency also explained that "the regional and international situations were reviewed, most notably the aggression on Lebanon and Palestine."

    According to the statement, the President of the Republic pointed out "the importance of expanding the horizons of bilateral cooperation, strengthening the bonds of friendship, and activating the mechanisms of cultural cooperation through the exchange of study missions between Baghdad and Moscow in various specializations."

    The President pointed out "the importance of stopping the attacks on the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples and working to protect defenceless civilians and establish security and stability in the region", while clarifying at the same time "Iraq's position on the Russian-Ukrainian war calling for its end and adopting the approach of dialogue and understanding to reach solutions to the problems between the two countries in a manner that serves international peace and security".

    For his part, Ambassador Kutrashev renewed "the Russian Federation's full support for the stability of Iraq and its keenness to strengthen and develop bilateral relations at various political, security and economic levels in a way that benefits both countries and friendly peoples."
