PM's Advisor Hussein Allawi confirmed on Friday that the wisdom of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani prevented Iraq from entering into an open war as a result of regional developments, and the government's vision supports Syria's stability and emerging democracy.

"The government's vision is moving towards supporting stability in Syria, its emerging democracy, democratic transformation, the transitional process, achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people, and moving them towards a dignified state that represents all components," said Allawi to Al-Iraqiya News TV – followed by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He added, "The wisdom of the Prime Minister prevented Iraq from entering into an open war after regional developments, and this served the interests of preserving the Iraqi state and its gains over two decades."

"The Prime Minister succeeded with his policy in preserving national security and Iraqi sovereignty. His decisions also contributed to strengthening border security, as the armed forces succeeded in managing the borders. The PM's foreign visits, including his recent trip to Jordan and Saudi Arabia and his meetings, also contributed to strengthening Iraq's role in calling for preserving regional stability and emphasized supporting stability in Syria," he noted.

He pointed out that "there are important points with Syria related to border security and combating terrorism. The head of the National Intelligence Service, Hamid Al-Shatri, during his visit to Damascus and his meeting with the new Syrian administration, referred to the issue of security and borders and monitoring the prisons in which the terrorist organization Daesh is present, as well as the organization's movements in the Syrian desert and near the Euphrates River, where it was able to control weapons for the Syrian army, and therefore there is a danger."
"The international coalition also sensed the danger and carried out strikes against Daesh, one of which contributed to killing the Daesh's leader in Syria. Its members are still trying to move, and there is monitoring by our armed forces on the borders as well as the international coalition," he added.

Allawi highlighted, saying "Iraqi diplomacy has succeeded during the two years of the government's term in achieving the government's program by contributing to attracting foreign investments as well as sustaining defense relations with the countries of the international coalition after completing the tasks and setting a timetable for withdrawal."
