Lebanese MOI: We will not allow encroachment on public or private property

    The Minister of Interior in the Lebanese caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, confirmed today, Thursday, that encroachment on public or private property will not be permitted.

    Mawlawi said, during a press conference followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Unity is the way to maintain Lebanon's security," indicating that "the security and military agencies are doing their part to maintain security."

    He explained that "the security forces are present in Beirut and are being reinforced," indicating that "the number of displaced people in Beirut is the largest."

    He stressed, "We will not allow encroachment on public or private property," noting "efforts to increase the number of shelters for displaced people in Beirut."

    He added, "We succeeded in removing encroachments on private and public properties," noting that "there is no place for strife among the Lebanese."

    He added, "All measures have been taken to maintain the safety of Beirut Airport," noting that "most Syrians in Lebanon can return to their country."

    He added, "The shelters should be for Lebanese only," indicating that "more than 311,000 Syrians left Lebanon for Syria within two weeks."
