Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani inaugurated today, Sunday, the construction of Nineveh Central Stadium (Local Administration Stadium) and the indoor sports hall in Mosul as part of a broader plan to support the sports and youth sectors.
“Prime Minister Al-Sudani instructed modifications to the stadium’s design to increase spectator capacity to over 10,000 and to expand parking facilities, ensuring compliance with international standards,” stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
Located in Bab Sinjar area on Mosul’s western side, the stadium is one of the city’s oldest sports venues. Originally established as part of the Mosul Sports Club, it was destroyed during the occupation by ISIS terrorist groups.
The project will be carried out on the site of the old stadium, featuring a modern redesign that includes new halls and a track. It will be funded through the regional development budget for Nineveh Province.
