FM Hussein announces signing several MoUs with the sultanate of Oman

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced today, Sunday, the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding with the Sultanate of Oman. Meanwhile, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi confirmed that he delivered a written message from the Sultan of Oman to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
     
    During a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Minister Hussein stated: “Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman share historical relations,” adding, “We discussed with Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi the distinguished diplomatic role played by Oman, particularly regarding the Syrian file.”
     
    He added, “Several joint memorandums of understanding have been signed, in addition to joint efforts between the two countries to waive visa requirements.”
     He also highlighted “ongoing collaboration between the Iraqi and Omani private sectors, as well as investment opportunities.”
     
    The Minister emphasized “Iraq’s full support for the Palestinian cause,” calling for “a ceasefire in Gaza and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to support affected civilians.”
     
    He further explained that “Iraq is studying the ongoing changes in Syria,” expressing concern over “the growth and expansion of terrorist organizations in certain areas of Syria.”
     
    The Minister stressed “the importance of assisting the Syrian people in building a comprehensive and stable political process that includes all components of Syrian society, ensuring stability and reducing tensions.”
     
    For his part, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi stated during the conference: “I had the honor of delivering a message from the Sultan of Oman to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, affirming the strong relations between the two countries.”
    He noted that “these relations are moving towards cooperation and achieving further common goals.”
     
    Al-Busaidi added, “The work of the Joint Committee has positively impacted economic aspects, transportation, and discussions on tourism, energy, financial and banking sectors, and encouraging private sector communication between relevant companies.”
    He confirmed “the ongoing efforts to follow up on the implementation of the joint committee’s signed minutes.”
     
    He continued, “We look forward to signing additional memorandums of understanding in various fields, as well as significant participation in next year’s Baghdad International Fair.”
     
    The Omani Minister also noted “discussions on regional issues of great importance to both countries and the region,” emphasizing “the intensification of diplomatic efforts to resolve regional conflicts.”
