Kareem Hamadi, the head of the Iraqi Media Network, underscored the significance of commemorating both Iraqi and foreign journalists who have fallen in the line of duty, stating that such remembrance serves as a profound message to the world about the importance of honoring those who sacrificed for the truth.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Hamadi remarked, "Establishing a monument to our journalist colleagues who have made the ultimate sacrifice is not only essential but also a clear testament that we have not and will not forget them."
He elaborated on the commemoration held in Sulaymaniyah, highlighting the participation of Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, in honoring journalists who martyred on Iraqi soil, asserting, "This tribute to both Iraqi and international journalists sends a powerful message globally: we will always remember those who have sacrificed for our safety and freedom."
Hamadi also reaffirmed the network's commitment to supporting the families of the fallen journalists and providing care and attention to the injured, stating, "We stand resolutely with our journalist colleagues who have made sacrifices, ensuring that their families are not forgotten and that we extend our support to those who have been wounded."
