Anbar Criminal Court issued a 15-year prison sentence against a drug dealer on Wednesday for the crime of drug trafficking.
A statement by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Anbar Criminal Court issued a 15-year prison sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of drug trafficking."
The statement added, "The convict was found in possession of five thousand methylamphetamine pills, with the intention of trading and selling them among addicts."
It added, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/First of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017."
