PM: Karbala Industrial City is undeniably a vital project on the development path

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani announced today, Thursday, that the Karbala Industrial City is close to the development path and constitutes an important project. At the same time, he directed the governors to complete the industrial city projects in their governorates.

    The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated work in the Karbala Industrial City, by launching executive work on four industrial projects/first phase, during his visit to the governorate today, Thursday. The projects included; an industrial Gases Factory) with a production capacity of 1,000 tons/day, (White Oils Factory) with a capacity of 1,000 m3/day, an organic Solvents Factory) with the same capacity, and (Vacuum Distillation Factory) with a capacity of 2,500 tons/day."

    He added that "the four factories that the Prime Minister launched the executive works to establish will produce primary, intermediate and final petroleum and petrochemical materials that will support the rest of the industries, to produce other final materials in an integrated manner within the boundaries of the industrial city in the holy Karbala, which includes 30 petroleum and petrochemical factories to produce primary materials, which represents an incubator for local industries, and a path to providing thousands of job opportunities."

    Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, that "Karbala Industrial City constitutes an important industrial project, and is a specialized city that invests in petroleum products and crude oil, and is close to the path of development and the opportunities for work and investment it carries," appreciating "the efforts of the Industrial Cities Authority, which is proceeding to complete the projects of these cities."

    He directed "the governors to complete the industrial city projects in their governorates, and organize the chaotic situation facing the industry and affecting the work of local governments," stressing that "the government's approach is towards the optimal investment of the oil wealth that produces various industries, prepares new industries and opens important factories. He also stressed the government's support for construction industry projects, and the localization of the pharmaceutical and chemical industries."

    He directed that the implementing company be "hosted at the next meeting of the Industrial Coordination Council, after preparing a working paper on ideas and proposals with the Ministry of Oil, and that it be presented in the form of an integrated vision to advance the wheel of work in this sector."
