The Ministry of Interior-MOI announced today, Wednesday, the arrest of an international drug trafficker in possession of 320,000 pills.
Colonel Maqdad Miri, MOI and the Security Media Cell spokesperson stated in a release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "based on precise intelligence, the General Directorate for Drug and Narcotics Control conducted a security operation leading to the arrest of an international drug trafficker with 320,000 pills of Captagon, weighing approximately 55 kilograms."
He added that "the arrest operation took place between Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah provinces under the supervision of Kirkuk's Drug Control Director in collaboration with the investigative body." Miri noted that "the investigative documents on the suspect were presented before an investigating judge, who decided to detain him under Article 27 of the Anti-Drug Law."
