The approval of a number of significant projects in Najaf was announced by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on Thursday. He also noted that pilgrims' service is one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Islamic world and is valued and respected.
"We participate with the Holy Shrine in laying the foundation stone for the important and vital Grand Station of Najaf project," the prime minister said in a speech marking the beginning of the executive works in the Grand Station project. The Iraqi News Agency (INA) followed him. He added that "the project comes in line with the government's vision in organizing the movement and transportation of pilgrims and facilitating their entry to the holy shrines and movement to and from Najaf."
"With its history and embrace of the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), the prophets, saints, and the honorable Najaf Seminary, the city of Najaf requires us as the federal government to cooperate with the local government in maintaining support for its projects, starting with infrastructure projects, which will take a great deal of attention in this day's visit, where we have a visit to the sites of service projects and laying the foundation stone for important economic development projects, in addition to holding meetings with the local government in the presence of ministers, undersecretaries, and general managers who accompany us on this visit," he continued.
He stated that "the follow-up will continue through specialized teams present in the province and follow up with the sub-departments in the province for the purpose of developing solutions and removing obstacles in order to start implementing service projects, especially lagging projects and pushing new projects that we will start announcing within additional financial allocations to the province," pointing out that "the government focuses on service projects, especially infrastructure projects, and this is the basis for any development process in any city, especially Najaf, which represents a destination and a destination for all Muslims."
