The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, today, Saturday, directed the establishment of a scientific and training academy for intelligence work.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, chaired, today, a meeting of the National Intelligence Council, during which a number of security files and topics related to intelligence work were discussed the plans followed in this context.”
The statement added, "The meeting witnessed a presentation of the latest developments in security and intelligence work, according to the categories of responsibility, as Al-Sudani listened to a comprehensive assessment of the readiness and performance of the security and intelligence services, and the tasks and duties they undertake related to the security and territorial integrity of Iraq, as well as the map of security work in the field of preemptive measures and plans prepared in advance to confront any potential security threats or breaches.”.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed “the importance of close cooperation between security and intelligence agencies and agencies, managing the optimal handling of information, working as a single cell, and distributing intelligence work fields,” stressing “securing the requirements for setting general policies in intelligence work and updating them according to the latest developments in the field.”.
The statement continued, "Al-Sudani directed the importance of following up on terrorist and extremist groups, and monitoring any movement or activity targeting social peace, especially after the successes achieved by our armed forces of all types in destroying these networks and paralyzing their capabilities.".
Al-Sudani stressed - according to the statement - “the need for directorates to employ work areas in order to develop accurate perceptions of risks, conclude them, and create national security reports periodically to cover any potential threats, moving locally, regionally, or internationally, in addition to the importance of developing individual competencies and capabilities of intelligence elements to serve the development of field work.”.
Al-Sudani directed, "to conduct a specialized study on the possibility of establishing a scientific and training academy for intelligence work, to raise capabilities and capabilities and strengthen the ability of the state's security and intelligence agencies to collect and analyze information, as well as to raise the capabilities of dealing with cyber threats, as they are the most dangerous enemy of intelligence agencies."
