MOD: The descovery of new hideouts belong to ISIS in Nineveh

The Directorate of Military Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense announced today, Thursday, the seizure of tunnels and underground hideouts belonging to ISIS terrorist gangs in Nineveh Governorate.

The Directorate stated in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “through a proactive operation and a distinguished intelligence effort and according to accurate intelligence information from the Fifteenth Division, and in cooperation with intelligence and a force from the Seventy-Third Brigade, and after searching and inspecting the village of Abu Maria, the detachments of the Intelligence Directorate were able to discover tunnels and underground bunkers more than 50 meters long for each tunnel, 100 cm wide, and 2 meters high in Tal Afar district.

The statement added, “These tunnels and hideouts were used by ISIS terrorist gangs, as a strategic center for commanding terrorist operations at the time,” noting, “that there were rooms used for prisons and caches of weapons, equipment, and various materials,” pointing out that “the engineering effort detachments removed the materials, destroyed them on site, and buried the entire tunnels.
